As partof the updates to the European legislation on fertilisers EU Fertilising Products Regulation 2019/1009 (FPR) in parallel to the revision of the Nitrates Directive 91/676/EEC (ND), both in progress, the draft of the European Commission has been prepared entitled “Commission Directive amending Council Directive 91/676/EEC as regards the use of certain fertilising materials from livestock manure”, that is, the amendment to the Nitrates Directive that opens to the use of fertilizers type “RENURE”, with due guarantees and conditions, in order to recover nitrogen from farmed effluent: RENURE products can therefore be used to replace synthetic fertilizers beyond the maximum amount currently provided for by the Nitrates Directive in vulnerable areas.
H2-VOLAZ plants fully meet the requirements of this amendment and already produce a RENURE fertiliser, which can then be used as a replacement for chemical fertilizers, allowing the greater safe recovery of livestock nitrogen and reducing at the same time the need for hectares of spreading for farms!
